Best Alkaline Water Pitcher Reviews

Santevia Water Systems Alkaline Water Filter Pitcher

Santevia Water Systems Alkaline Water PitcherSantevia pitchers have some attractive looking models in four different colors. The lid comes outfitted with a countdown clock that informs you of the time to replace filter cartridges. The pitcher looks quite solid and has an easy to fill lid on top. The lid also has a handy auto close function.

On the downside, there are some of quality issues with this pitcher. The countdown timer is very flimsy and prone to breakdown pretty quickly. The water filter ratings and even the capacity of the pitcher are not adequately mentioned by the company. The filters do not last very long, timing out within a month of use.

But probably the weakest aspect of this pitcher is the pH level of the filtered water. There was very little increase in pH levels, with increases typically restricted to under 1 pH or thereabouts. The water does taste better, which is some consolation.

In our final estimation, there are much better pitchers out there at or below the price point of Santevia. To make matters worse, the customer care is also not up to the mark, making it very difficult for us to recommend this product.

Pros
  • Has a countdown timer on the lid.
  • Automatic closing function on the lid.
  • Available in multiple color options.
Cons
  • Weak alkaline capabilities.
  • Easily damaged timer.
  • Not enough information provided by the company.
  • Poor customer support.
  • Filter cartridge needs frequent replacement.
  • Little value for money.

Seychelle pH20 – 2 Liter Pitcher With Long-Lasting Fluoride Filter

Seychelle pH20 Alkaline Water FilterThe company is based in California, and these are high-quality alkaline pitchers, available in both 1 liter and 2-liter models. The filters are quite strong and can keep out impurities including fluoride and bacteria. They can last for over three months, which is quite long for filters used in alkaline pitchers. The company also provide two filters with the pitcher. You can expect high alkaline levels, between 7.5 -9.5, with this pitcher.

Yes, this is a rather small capacity pitcher, when pitted against those 3.5-liter versions in our shortlist. But for those who want a travel-friendly option, this one makes sense. It is also very easy to store in your refrigerator.

But the main issue with this product is its price. It costs three times as much as the average alkaline water pitcher on our list. And the refill cartridges can also be pricey. At these price points, we need to see some class leading numbers in the performance brackets. Unfortunately, we simply don’t see that here with Seychelles.

Don’t get us wrong; this pitcher is a decent performer. But it doesn’t provide enough value for the amount of money it asks of the consumer. But it does seem like a made in US product, which if true does work in its favor somewhat.
Pros
  • A good filter with fluoride protection.
  • Long lasting cartridges.
  • High pH levels.
  • Travel-friendly option.
Cons
  • Costly, not enough value for money.
  • Some leakage issues.

Invigorated Living Alkaline Water Pitcher – 2 Liter Pitcher With Long Filter and Ionizer

Invigorated Living Alkaline Water PitcherThis product has a lot of certifications, from SGS, FDA, TUV, to BSI, ISO, and RoHS. It looks like a premium product, clad all in white. The multi-stage filter is capable of removing heavy metals, chlorine, fluoride, and bacteria. The pH levels are also elevated by the addition of minerals like selenium and calcium. The lid has a digital gauge, while the filters are designed with anti-block features. And there is a rubber base that plants the vessel firmly and comfortably on all surfaces.

The pitcher is easy to use and fill. The filters will need an occasional shake-up to work properly at speed. Do not forget to reset the timer once you refill the cartridge, or else you will lose track of the days left before next refill! You will also need to buy the filter separately. The pH levels are quite high, with some tests resulting in readings that go beyond 10.

But the pitcher is not perfect and has some issues. Contrary to the claims of the company, the filters do not work flawlessly. They can clog up if you don’t do occasional maintenance. Also, filling the pitcher beyond 3/4th or thereabouts of total capacity may result in minor leaks close to the handle side of the pitcher.

Despite those minor niggles, this is one of the best performing products in our shortlist. It has a lot of nice features, and it delivers on most, if not all of its promises. It is well worth the money.
Pros
  • Premium looking product.
  • Maintains high pH levels.
  • Excellent multi-stage filter.
  • Digital gauge on the lid.
Cons
  • The filter has a tendency to clog.
  • Minor leak issues.
  • Lower capacity, only 2 liters.

EHM Aurora – Best Alkaline Water Pitcher With Ionizer

EHM Aurora Alkaline Water PitcherThe EHM Aurora pitcher comes feature packed, with a compact design and excellent capacity. The 6-stage filter is one of the best features on this pitcher, with ion exchange resin, activated carbon and mineral stones and mineral balls taking care of the filtration and mineralization process. It of tcomes with a handy digital meter on the lid.

One of the highlights of this pitcher is the high pH levels it delivers on a consistent basis. Expect the pH of your water to be around 9 or 10, which is quite impressive for a pitcher. The taste of the water is also quite nice, as all the chlorine and impurities are effectively removed. The filter cartridges are easily replaced and can last almost up to 2 months. Replacement filters are available at affordable rates, in packets of 3.

The pitcher does have some issues related to the speed of filtration. It can take a bit longer than some other pitchers on our list. As to whether that bothers you, it ultimately depends on how fast you need your alkaline water. The main culprit is the mineral stones and balls used, but they are the ones that provide the high pH so that it may be a worthy trade-off for many.

Is it a worthy product? If you can tolerate the slow filtering speeds, most definitely yes. The EHM delivers high pH levels consistently. If you want to try alkaline water for health benefits, it is a good choice at a decent price.
Pros
  • One of the best at delivering high pH water.
  • Good 6-stage filter.
  • High capacity pitcher in a compact form.
  • Good value for money.
Cons
  • Slow filtering speed.
  • Less than stellar customer support.

Lake Industries Alkaline Water Pitcher

Lake Industries Alkaline Water PitcherThe 7-stage filter is the star of the alkaline water pitcher from Lake Industries. For the asking low price, that seems like a real bargain. N The pitcher is made from food grade AS and ABS plastics that are rated BPA free. The 2.5-liter capacity is not too high and might suit smaller families and individuals better. The slim design should fit comfortably into refrigerators. The increase in pH level was not that substantial, but the filters do make some difference.

But there are minor issues with this pitcher. The lids on most alkaline water pitchers do not sit tight, that is a common problem. But this one had an added problem when pouring out the filtered water. The unfiltered water often splashed out as well, making it necessary to remove the lid+filter setup before pouring the safe water. That is an inconvenience that the company should be looking at.

Other than that, this is an entirely capable water pitcher. The capacity may not suit a large family, but it is good enough for individuals and smaller households. Though you can’t fit other filters on this pitcher, the proprietary Lake Industries filters are very affordable and do a good job at purifying tap water. And they also last for three months, which is quite good.

Should you buy the Lake Industries Water pitcher? Maybe, as this is a crowded price segment, and even minor niggles can kill a product. The alkaline water pH levels are also not too impressive. So you may want to look at other products as well before making a choice.

Pros
  • Excellent 7-stage filters.
  • Compact dimensions.
  • Filters last longer, at three months of regular use.
  • Low price.
Cons
  • Minor design flaw in the lid.
  • Capacity is not very high.
  • Have to buy company’s filters.
  • No indicators for the filter life.

Wamery Alkaline Water Pitcher – 2 Liter Capacity pitcher with free filter cartridge

Wamery Alkaline Water PitcherThis pitcher from Wamery is certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA), a reputed research and trade association in the US water treatment industry. The certifications received are identical to the NSF 42, 53 and 372 certifications. As far as the design and engineering are concerned, there is not much to complain about. The pitcher is BPA free and does not contain any harmful chemicals.

Another nifty feature is the LED indicator on the lid that lets you know when the filter is in need of replacement.

The pitcher is about 10-11 inches in height and can hold a maximum of 8 cups of water. With constant use, (3 refills per day), you can hope to get a month’s worth of use out of the filter provided. With less use, the filter might last up to 2 months. Wamery has been kind enough to provide an extra filter free with the package, so you are good for 2-4 months when you buy this pitcher.

The filters are good enough to remove a host of impurities and chemicals from your tap water. And this includes that nasty chlorine taste and smell. The pH level of the alkaline water delivered by this pitcher can be expected to be between 7-10 on average. The actual level will depend on the quality of your local tap water. But expect an increase by 4-5 points max.

A nice feature is the fact that the pitchers use industry standard filter designs. This means that you can buy any standard water filter that fits your budget when the Wamery filter is used up. The capacity of the filter has been rated at around 42 gallons. You can use this figure to determine whether this pitcher can meet your Alkaline water requirements.

In conclusion, is the Wamery alkaline water pitcher a bad choice? Based on our experience, definitely not. With a very low price point and some nice design features, it is well worth a look. The only thing standing in your way might be the smallish capacity of the pitcher and its short-lasting filters.
Pros
  • Comes with a free extra filter.
  • Certified filters are effective at purification.
  • Can raise the pH level by a decent margin.
  • LED filter indicator is a useful feature.
  • Excellent pricing.
Cons
  • Capacity is a bit on the lower side.
  • Some complaints about the flimsiness of the lid.
  • Filter Longevity is also rather short.

Reshape Water Alkaline Water Pitcher – 3.5-Liter Pitcher With Fluoride Filter

Reshape Water Alkaline Water PitcherNone of the pitchers reviewed so far have a fluoride filter, which the Reshape Water pitcher claims to have. This is also one of the sturdiest pitchers we have seen. The filters are certified by the WQA, and the pitcher also has other industry standard certifications. The lid is another significant aspect, with a well executed spill-proof design. There is a countdown timer on the lid to let you know when exactly to replace the filter cartridges. And to sweeten an already great package, the pitcher comes with two filters, enough to last you well over four months.

The water tastes pretty good, and the pH levels are also reasonably high. Expect results between 8.5 and 10, depending on your source water. The pitcher is also one of the best looking models we have reviewed. Instead of filtering all the water, some unfiltered water is kept in reserve. This makes sense since no filter can cleanse all the water that you pour into it.

Since this is a well-designed product with premium build quality, we found very little to complain about. The speed of the filter is somewhat slow, and that can bother some users. Also, some of the filter cartridges have a shorter lifetime than the figures claimed by the company. Save for these two issues; this is a great product.

Reshape Water is such an odd name for a product, but that is one of the few minor issues we had with this pitcher. It looks good and is tough at the same time, works well and has a lot of useful features. Add a competent price tag, and you have a winner here. This is an alkaline pitcher that we have no hesitation in recommending.
Pros
  • Rugged construction, very good looking product.
  • Excellent filter, protects against fluoride.
  • The lid design is great.
  • Has a countdown timer.
  • Excellent value for money, with the extra filters.
Cons
  • Takes a long time to filter.
  • Cartridges do not last very long.

Dragonn Alkaline Water Pitcher – 3.5 Liter Pitcher With 7-Stage Filter

Dragonn Alkaline Water PitcherThe Dragonn is a feature rich water pitcher with an increased capacity of 3.5 liters. That makes it larger than any of the other pitchers we have reviewed so far. And along with that increased capacity, it also brings a 7-stage filter and LED indicator to the table, making it superior to the other two pitchers above, at least on paper. The lid is also solidly designed and doesn’t fall out of place when you are pouring the water.

Despite its larger capacity, the Dragonn will fit into most refrigerators with ease. The filter indicators let you know when you need to change the filters. With regular use, the provided filter cartridge should last for around two months, which is not too shabby. The 7-stage filters do an excellent job of removing impurities, heavy metals, and chlorine from the water. The taste is noticeably better as well.

The main issue we had with this pitcher was its rather weak alkaline levels. The pH levels in the filtered water are not too high, which is a slight disappointment when looking at the asking price. The highest we ever got it to was around 9, but the average result was rather close to a flat 7. That is not bad, but it is not good either.

So, is the Dragonn alkaline water pitcher worth your money? For an asking price, you get great filters with decent longevity and an increased water capacity of 3.5 liters. The solid construction of the lid is also good. But the alkaline levels are a bit underwhelming, so if high alkaline (above 9.5) water is your priority, you may be disappointed by this pitcher. It is not a bad option at discounted rates.

Pros
  • Generous 3.5-liter capacity.
  • Excellent 7-stage filter.
  • Tight fitting lid.
  • Comes with LED indicator.
Cons
  • Lower than average pH levels.
  • Steep price, may not be good value for money.
  • Uses proprietary filter cartridges.

Claro Alkaline Water Pitcher – 3.5 Liter Pitcher Available in Multiple Colors

Claro Alkaline Water PitcherThe Claro pitchers are available with color options. You can choose between white, blue and a pleasing green shade. The green version looks especially nice. The pitchers are also offered quite cheap, for a stated capacity of 3.5 liters. The filters come with LED displays to warn you when they need to be replaced. And the company even provide a free replacement the first time your filter cartridge expires, which is a great deal. The cartridges are also very affordably priced.

We have a few issues with this pitcher. There is not too much information regarding the type or rating of the actual filters used. They also don’t clearly mention the fact that the different colored variants use different filter cartridges. The product seems to be rather new, or less popular, when compared to some of the other pitchers on our list, purely based on the number of reviews.

The actual performance of the pitcher and its filters are not remarkable in any way. The pH levels are nothing to write home about, and the filter cartridges only last around two months, which is par for the course. The pitcher may not fit into some of the smaller refrigerators.

All in all, this is an okay product based on its price and features. It doesn’t stand out, and we wish the company had more information regarding the product on the seller page. There are more reputed models available at a lower price, with similar features and probably better performance.
Pros
  • LED Display on the lid.
  • Free replacement for first filter cartridge.
  • Multiple color options.
Cons
  • Average performance.
  • Uses proprietary filters cartridges.
  • Listed price is high.

Health Metric Alkaline Water Pitcher – 3.5 Liter Pitcher With 6-Stage Fluoride Filter

Health Metric Alkaline Water PitcherThis is another high-end pitcher with a fluoride filter. It has six stages and the capability to handle everything from bacteria to heavy metals. The lid is very secure and has a knob to hold it in place. The pitcher can increase water pH levels to above 9. The filters should last for at least two months. There is also a countdown timer on the lid.

On the whole, performance is not too bad. The water taste can improve dramatically, depending on how bad it was in the first place, of course! The pH level can go as high as 9, but not in all cases. But it is still higher than many other pitchers. The lid is also quite spill-proof. The pitcher looks quite good and should fit into refrigerators without much trouble.

There are few limitations with this product. Though the lid design is innovative, it can be rather hard to manipulate. And the mechanism is quite flimsy and can break quickly. The speed of filtration is also quite low, as it often happens on these bigger filters.

On the whole, the Health Metric pitcher is quite similar in features to the product we reviewed before it, the Reshape Water model. Both also have similar price tags. But regarding performance, this Health Metric product is not in the same league as its rival. But it is nonetheless a capable device, easily falling into our top five list.
Pros
  • Can filter fluoride.
  • Spill-proof lid design.
  • Maintains pH levels close to 9.
  • Has a countdown timer on the lid.
Cons
  • Slow filtering speed.
  • Lid mechanism is flimsy and may break easily.

Oxa Smart Alkaline Water Pitcher – Large 10 Cup 2.5 Ltr Pitcher

Oxa Smart Alkaline Water PitcherAn advanced 7-stage filtering system is the main highlight of this alkaline water pitcher from Oxa. It is capable of removing all kinds of impurities, like chlorine, dirt, heavy metals, biological contaminants. And on top of that, this alkalizing filter also adds beneficial elements like selenium and calcium to your drinking water.

Another great feature that we liked about this pitcher is its compact size. It can comfortably fit inside your average refrigerator. The handle and spout designs are also top notch, giving primacy to ergonomics and ease of use. The pitcher can increase your pH levels somewhat, to a maximum of 2 depending on your local water properties.

The pitcher is a large and attractive looking clear plastic jar, made from safe and non-toxic ingredients. It does not contain any chemicals like BPA. To back up the claims, the manufacturer has a bunch of international certifications, like ISO 9001:2000.

Getting into the details regarding the filter, the 7-stage filtering process has various levels like activated carbon, mineral balls, and ceramic balls. Each filter is worth anywhere between 1-3 months, depending on the number of people using the pitcher. You get two filters for free with the package. The pitcher works with the proprietary Oxa filters. Do take note of the fact that while the capacity of the pitcher is 2.5 ltr, the actual filtered water available for drinking will be 1.5 liters.

Now to check out some notable disadvantages of the Oxa pitcher. What we noticed straight away was the awkward design of the lid. It does not come off very easily. You might think that is a good thing. But if you have a large household, you will have to open the pitcher for refills several times a day. And when you have to wrestle with the lid, it is isn’t fun. Which also brings us to the other issue: if you live alone or have a small household, the capacity of this pitcher may suffice. Otherwise, the 1.5-liter actual capacity is just too low.

In conclusion, is the Oxa jar worth it? The features look pretty okay, though it is missing out on advanced features like refill indicators. But what may finally make or break a deal is the capacity of the pitcher. Are 1.5 liters enough for you? If you don’t mind the frequent refills, this Oxa pitcher is worth a try if you are on a budget.
Pros
  • Advanced 7-stage filter system
  • Can handle most common contaminants and pollutants
  • Good design and build quality
  • Comes with two filters
Cons
  • No advanced reminder features
  • Size is too small for large households
  • The lid design could have been better

HoLife Alkaline Water Filter Pitcher -3 Ltr Pitcher With Brita Filters

HoLife is different from many manufacturers who try to force consumers to buy their proprietary design filters for premium prices. In contrast, the HoLife alkaline water pitcher works with the popular filters from Brita. Those filters are very effective at removing pollutants and improving the water pH so you can rest assured about the water purifying and alkalizing action of this pitcher.

Besides the filters, the HoLife pitcher also has a very convenient reminder display on top of the lid. It will remind you when the filter is about to reach the end of its capacity. If you have a busy schedule, you can easily end up forgetting to change filters. And this nifty feature helps you avoid that. The build quality is top notch, and the pitcher looks stylish with a white and transparent design. It is made from non-toxic food-grade plastics and contains no BPA.

And we also found the filtering speed of the pitcher to be pretty efficient. See, if your family drinks a lot of water, you will have to do several refills a day. But since the filter works its magic in around 3-5 minutes, you will never have to wait too long for your next cup of water! The pH levels are increased, but don’t expect it to shoot up!

As we already mentioned, the HoLife pitcher is equipped with one Brita filter. It should last you for 300 liters of water purification, which can take anywhere between a couple of weeks to one month, depending on your water consumption levels. The Brita filter on board has a 6-layer filtration system, to remove chlorine, heavy metals and impurities. And this pitcher can hold a total of 3 ltr, but only 2.25 ltr will be drinkable.

Though the Brita filters are pretty good performers, they may not provide the maximum filtration necessary in these days of heavy water contamination. Also, the lid design is again a big letdown in this pitcher. We have seen this time and again in many otherwise solid alkaline water pitchers. The top doesn’t stay put while you pour, and the filter indicator is also rather flimsy and prone to breakage.

Should you buy the HoLife pitcher? The main question is whether your local water can be safely filtered using the 6-stage Brita filters alone. If that is the case, then the Ho-Life pitcher is worth a look, warts and all. It does have poor lid design, but its larger than average capacity and otherwise decent build quality work in its favor.
Pros
  • Works with easily available Brita filters
  • Filter offers excellent alkaline water and acceptable purification
  • Durable build quality
  • Large 3ltr capacity
  • Has a refill indicator
Cons
  • The lid design is not properly secured
  • Comes with only one filter
  • Refill indicator is flimsy

UltraPure Alkaline Water Pitcher Ionizer – Premium 3.5 Ltr Water Purifying System

UltraPure Alkaline Water Pitcher IonizerA large 3.5-liter capacity is the main eye-catching feature of this premium alkaline water jug from UltraPure. Instead of overloading you with complicated 6 or 7 stage filters, this pitcher tries to keep things simple and efficient, with a three-stage filter. Space is at a premium in a water pitcher, and the use of 3 more massive filter layers offer better performance than six thinner layers. Their filters are tested at NASA approved labs.

The jug has a very premium feel and design and is made from high grade, BPA-free plastics. At the top, you have a premium digital indicator to remind you when the filter is ready to be replaced. The maximum pH increase from this filter should be around two levels, but that depends a lot on your tap water quality.

You will get 2 liters of filtered alkaline water every time you fill this jug to the 3.5-liter capacity. The filters include active carbon purifiers, as well as layers of ion exchange and mineral balls that add to the pH of your water. Each filter can last you for a minimum of 3 months, and a maximum of 6, which is much better than most other filters out there.

The pitcher does have some flaws. Even if you fill it up only to the indicated limit, there is conspicuous leaking around the handles. So you need to keep the water level lower than the indicated level. Also, the lid doesn’t stay in place when pouring, and the digital display is prone to breakage, despite its premium looks.

Finally, is the UltraPure pitcher worth the premium pricing? The pitcher has some of the same common failings shared by other lower priced products, like poor lid design, and flimsy indicators. But the 3-stage filtration system is very convincing and does perform better than some other 7-stage systems we have tested. If you can put up the minor niggles, the UltraPure pitcher is worth a buy.
Pros
  • More efficient 3-stage filter system
  • Large 3.5-liter capacity
  • BPA-free plastics and premium build quality
  • Advanced digital refill indicator
  • Filters are long lasting
Cons
  • Some leaking issues
  • Poor lid design
  • Indicator is again flimsy

Hskyhan Alkaline Water Filter Pitcher – 2.5 Ltr 5-Stage Filter Pitcher

Advanced NSF and SGS certification is the main highlight of this compact 2.5 ltr alkaline water pitcher from Hskyhan. It gets a 5-stage filter that can remove common contaminants like chlorine, heavy metals, and bacteria. It can also marginally increase the water pH levels.

The pitcher has a slim design that snugly fits inside refrigerators. It has excellent handles that have been ergonomically designed for better grip. The plastics used are food-grade ABS and contain no BPA.

In this 2.5-liter jar, you can expect to get around 1.3 liters of purified water with each fill. The filters have layers of activated carbon, special coconut fiber, ion exchange resin, and HD fiber mesh. You get two filters as part of the package, which should last you at least two months, if not more. One filter is good for 300 liters of water. You should not use hot water with this filter system.

The alkalizing effect is feeble to non-existent in this filter. If you want this pitcher for an alkaline water lifestyle, you may have to look elsewhere. Also, to exacerbate the low capacity issues further, you can only effectively fill this pitcher to the halfway level.

So, is the Hskyhan pitcher worth your hard earned dollars? If you want high pH water, this might be an unreliable product on that front. Purification and filtration systems look okay. But the low capacity and the design issues hobble this pitcher. Buy only if you are okay with its issues.
Pros
  • Compact design fits inside fridge
  • BPA free plastics
  • the 5-stage filter removes impurities
  • Comes with two filters
Cons
  • Low capacity at just 2.5 liters
  • Cannot be filled to full capacity
  • Not very good at raising pH

Vigorous Water Alkaline Water Pitcher – Premium 3.5 Ltr 7-Stage Filter Pitcher

Vigorous Water Premium Alkaline Filter PitcherA comprehensive 7-stage filter system, incorporating levels like ion exchange resin, tourmaline, minerals and carbon is the main attraction of this Vigorous Water Pitcher. It has an excellent filtration effect, and also considerably increases the pH level of your drinking water. There is a handy digital indicator for timely warnings regarding the filter condition.

Despite that large 3.5 ltr capacity, this is one of the few large pitchers that can fit comfortably into the fridge. That is mainly due to its special slim design. And the lid also receives high marks from us, since you don’t have to remove it to pour the water in, unlike in most other pitchers. The pitcher is made from high-quality ABS plastics and has a very sturdy look. It doesn’t contain any BPA.

The package only contains one filter, but that one can last you for two months. You can buy replacement filters from the manufacturer online. Out of the 3.5 liters, you can expect to get around 2.5 liters of usable water.

There are a few minor issues with the Vigorous Water pitcher. The issues regarding lid design and flimsy indicators persist in this brand as well. Also, they don’t have any detailed instructions available anywhere for first time users regarding the preparation of the filter, which is rather poor.

In our opinion, the Vigorous Water Alkaline Filter pitcher is a decent option, as it combines extra capacity with a compact and fridge-friendly design. The 7-stage filter is nothing new, but it seems to work well enough.
Pros
  • Large 3.5-liter capacity
  • Fits in fridge with a compact, slim design
  • Advanced 7-stage filter
  • Digital filter refill reminder
Cons
  • Comes with only one filter
  • No user instructions in the package or online
  • Flimsy and break-prone indicator

Best Alkaline Water Pitcher Buying Guide

The benefits of alkaline water are starting to attract the attention of researchers and fitness enthusiasts these days. Alkaline water pitchers are your simple, low cost, low maintenance route to getting a daily supply of healthy, high pH alkaline water.

This device is basically a container for water with a special lid. The lid portion incorporates a filter and reservoir to hold the tap water. Once you pour in the tap water/well water, it is passed through the filters and collected at the bottom of the pitcher. You can then pour the purified water out by just tilting the pitcher. All alkaline water pitchers currently available in the market follow this basic design. So how do you decide which one to buy?

You have to consider the following factors while shopping for an alkaline water pitcher:

Size: the capacity of these pitchers typically range between 1 – 3.5 liters, (0.26 – 1 gallon) or anywhere from 4 to 8 cups or more. If you stay alone or have a small family, the smaller sized models might suffice. They are also easier to carry around if you plan to travel. But the larger 3.5-liter variants are best for family use. All these variants should easily fit into refrigerators if you want to keep your alkaline water cold.

Filter Type: Multi-stage filters are the norm in this category. These use anything from activated carbon to special resins, mineral stones, and mineral balls. The larger the number of stages, the better the filter. They serve a dual purpose, by filtering the water and then adding soluble minerals to it to increase its pH. Not all pitchers have the capacity to filter fluoride. If that is a priority, seek out models that explicitly mention this feature.

Filter Capacity: This denotes how much water a filter cartridge can treat before it has to be replaced. The average duration is usually anywhere between 1-3 months. The longer a filter can last, the better it is since buying replacement filters can cost you anywhere from $7-$30 or more, depending on the company. Some companies use proprietary filters, which means that you have to buy your replacement cartridges exclusively from them. This can often leave you at the mercy of their pricing policies.

Digital timer/counter: This is just a useful extra feature. It is basically a countdown timer that can inform you when the cartridge is ready to be replaced.

Filter pH Capability: The best filters can maintain high pH levels, at least above 7.5. The best performing models will keep it above 9. Consistency is an issue here for water pitchers since output pH levels are largely dependent on the existing pH levels in your tap or well water.

Price: One of the attractions of alkaline water pitchers is their low price when compared to alkaline filters. You can expect to find decent pitchers for anywhere between $35 – $60. Most of them also sell at highly discounted rates these days, so price should not be an issue in this segment.

Conclusion

Tap water can no longer be considered safe to drink, no matter what the experts say. So what are your options when you want a safe and healthy sip of this life-giving liquid? Well, for starters, you can install at least a reputable water purifier (or two) to get rid of all the chemicals and god knows what from your tap water. Or you can look at bottled mineral water for a better tasting and healthier alternative.

Mineral water has the added benefit of healthier pH levels, thanks to all those ions of dissolved minerals in it. But buying up bottles of water can be a very expensive proposition. In fact, the package water business has gone crazy these days, with brands selling exclusive water sourced from remote locations in the world for obscene amounts of money. But what to do if you want to try out the benefits of a high pH water diet, without actually breaking the bank in the process?

One option would be to install an alkaline water filter. They purify ordinary tap water and add beneficial minerals to raise the pH level. Hello Amanda,

You should know that filter activity is calculated by days. Amount of water is irrelevant. So, filter needs to be replaced once a month or two. Sensor will tell you exact time. Santevia Water Pitcher will last for such consumption rate before replacement: 80 gallons (300 liters) or 1250 glasses.

      Hello Nathan,

The pH level usually depends on water source. The Lake Industries Alkaline Water Pitcher has pH from 7.8 to 9. For example in Las Vegas (Nevada) the average pH level of the water is about 8.8. Please make sure, that your pitcher is filled up with water for 3/4.

      Hello Thomas,

This model makes fresh water. It tastes very nice without any additives, in my view. But don’t forget to wash your pitcher on regular basics.

    Hello Mr. Michael Simmons:
I brought the EHM Alkaline Water Pitcher in early December, 2017. When I got the instructions, it said to throw out any water left overnight, wash the pitcher thoroughly, then refill. I was confused by this, so I called the company. They said that over time, the alkalinity diminishes. When I asked more questions, they could not answer them. So, my question is…If the alkalinity diminishes, do the toxins come back?? How is it that the alkalinity diminishes?? And, having to wash out the pitcher, does that mean that the residual of the overnight water has become toxic?? And, how accurate is the alkaline water pitcher’s numbers?? Also, how does the Alkaline Water Pitcher compare to bottled alkaline water?? Thanks

      Hello Mr. Malcolm S Knox,

If the alkalinity diminishes, do the toxins come back?? And, having to wash out the pitcher, does that mean that the residual of the overnight water has become toxic??

The toxins don‘t come back to the water. At the same time it won’t be so useful for your health, so you need to refill your pitcher regularly, because fresh purified water is much beneficial, as experts think. And of course, you should wash out your pitcher after 2-4 weeks of usage in order to avoid capacity contamination.

Every time that you use a dirty pitcher, you give the bacteria billions of chances to multiply and to degrade the water left in it. The residual of the overnight water won’t be toxic, exactly the same as not very beneficial for health.

How is it that the alkalinity diminishes??

If you don’t want to drink purified water at once, put it into the fridge for 1 or 2 nights. The point is, water’s negative RedOx (oxidation-reduction potential) has declined over time, as well as it’s alkalinity level too. So, we highly recommend you to pour into a pitcher as much water, as long you can drink at one time. As a result, you can be sure, that your water is really healthy, alkaline and non-contaminated or toxic!

And, how accurate is the alkaline water pitcher’s numbers??

Once your water is purified, test its pH level. It depends on your tap water source. If you want some accurate measures of your alkaline water we can recommend you to buy test water’s pH level by using pH test strips purchased at a local health food store or online. Knowing the starting pH of your purified water will give you a better idea of how much of an adjustment is necessary to achieve your desired pH. Here is good ph level tester http://amzn.to/2D0y7V7

      I hope that helps.

      Best regards, Michael.

Hi. I’ve been using Health Metric for half a year already. I can’t say I bought it because I had health problems. Thanks God, I was OK, but still decided to try alkaline water to protect myself from diseases. I was really impressed how great I felt after taking it. I became energetic, achieved many results in sport, I slept well and had better appetite. As for the model of pitcher I bought, it’s good and I like it. For all this time I had no problems in using it.

Hi Michael, thank you for such a thorough and informative review of the alkaline water pitchers. A few months ago our son mentioned that we should check into getting one of these pitchers since we drink a lot of water. Not knowing anything about alkaline water pitchers I purchased an EHM pitcher (not the Aurora model which was mentioned here). I could definitely say that the water tasted better. It had a clean, “fresh” taste. The one thing that REALLY bothers me is the lid. It just doesn’t stay on tightly. So, I decided to purchase a different one. After reading reviews I realized that this is not uncommon with these pitchers.
Okay, so aside from the very bothersome lid feature, here’s my question: we drink a lot of water. My husband drinks out of such a large glass I call it a bucket. So, I bought a slimline “plastic” pitcher for the fridge that holds about 5 liters and I transfer the filtered water into that. After reading reviews and comments about BPA, it occurred to me that maybe I shouldn’t be transferring the water out of the EHM pitcher? By trying to keep a larger quantity of water available am I jeopardizing the quality or is it okay to do this? I apologize if this is a silly question. Also, should I continue with the EHM since the taste is really good (even though I hate the loose fitting lid)?

      Hello, Tori

Thank you for your review and your question. And I apologize for not answering earlier. I found your comment only now. May be it was lost somehow because of frequent spammer attacks.

You can store water in glass or BPA free plastic vessels. In this case there is no risk of consuming BPA. But still storing water in such vessels for a long period of time causes bacterial growth. The speed of their growth depends on the initial number of bacteria in water, the number of bacteria in the air, and on the storing temperature. In each case water storing time will differ. Basically, doctors recommend storing filtered water for no longer than 12 hours.

My dad has GERD, and I read that alkaline water can help ease some of the discomforts. You mentioned in your guide that the best filter should maintain at least above 7.5 pH level. So should I always aim for a model that can maintain the pH level at 9 to get the most of the product? And since I’m here, I might as well ask for your recommendation. More power to your reviews, and you gained a new reader!

    • Michael Simmons says:

Hello, thank you so much for the encouragement. And yes, the best alkaline water pitcher can keep the pH level at 9 or much better, above 9. You also mentioned that your dad has GERD, so the filter pH capacity should top your list of considerations when choosing a model. I should say that it’s also best to consult a doctor in addition to drinking alkaline water to ensure the best results. As for my recommended model, the Seychelle in the list comes to mind. For one, it has high pH levels and excellent filter quality. You can ensure that it will last longer, and if you’re picky with brands, it’s US-made. It’s pretty pricey, though, so that may be an issue to some.

I’ve been looking for alkaline water pitcher reviews because I’ve been wanting to get one. I’m glad you finally did a review because I’ve also used an article from this site as a reference when buying a blender. Anyway, I have my eye on the model from Reshape Water. It’s really gorgeous, and I could just imagine it on my kitchen counter, haha! I’m just a bit deterred by cartridge longevity. What do you think? Other than that con, I’m pretty much sold with this water pitcher.

    • Michael Simmons says:

Wow, that’s amazing that you have read from our blog before! Are you pleased with the blender you bought? As for alkaline pitchers, I think Reshape Water is a value for money. You’ll understand what I mean more when you tried it firsthand. The parts feel premium, and you’ll even get extra filters. The cartridge lifespan is still reasonable but definitely not the longest in the market. However, you have a timer that lets you know when to replace the cartridges. That takes out the guesswork, so you’ll always be prepared with the filter cartridges. If you have other questions, feel free to comment again, and I’ll try to reply as soon as possible. Stay healthy!
